STRUCTURAL SYSTEMS IN ARCHITECTURE I
PROJECT I | PRECEDENT STUDY

Buildings are extremely complex entities, composed of countless materials, components, systems, and parts. It is only when this array of discrete elements is successfully brought together, assembled, and systemically connected that we are able to achieve a work of architecture. In this assignment you, or your group, will be assigned a building to study. Your goal is to analyze the structural system and understand the building’s tectonic makeup and how it performs under load. This process will require you to analyze the project in order to better understand its organization, its principles, and its concepts as well as how construction and structure are shaped by or shapers of those ideas.
